We are proud to present to you this Jimmy Edmonds D-28 style dreadnought. No stranger to us, Jimmy has crafted some of the greatest instruments we have had the pleasure of experiencing, and he boasts a level of craftsmanship not realized by many small shop builders. The sound of his instruments is always bold and pure, while the attention to detail is unsurpassed, and his expertise as a musician lens itself to superb playability.
Specs: serial number 405, built in 2024, Adirondack red spruce top with large soundhole, forward shifted scalloped X bracing, old growth Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, hand carved mahogany neck with volute, 1 3/4 nut width, the neck airs in a comfortable middle-ground between vintage and modern taper, with being slightly more substantial in the first position, but not showing an extreme taper in thickness up to vintage spec, similar to many 40s Martins we’ve played,2 1/4 bridge spacing, Ebony Bridge and fingerboard, slotted bridge with solid ebony pins, adorned with herringbone purfling, ivorid binding on the body and fretboard, two-way truss rod, Waverly open gear tuners, strap button and end pin installed, with a varnish finish, which Edmonds is famous for.
this instrument has been very well maintained for One which is two years old, with only normal signs of use, including a slight imperfection on the bass side of the fingerboard binding. The playability is fantastic, with enough of saddle should you need to lower the action in the future; likewise, there are nearly no signs of fret wear. Players with a lighter touch will much appreciate the gratification and lack of effort it takes to play this instrument. It is properly built, thus the top is excited with just a feathering touch. It has a strong bass response, with really nice overtones, while maintaining exceptional note separation.
