Hozen Guitars Red Label OM — 12-Fret, Baked Sitka / African Mahogany
Hozen’s Red Label line is built as a period-correct take on golden-era acoustics: traditional X-bracing and hide-glue construction, with the modern pieces Hozen actually trusts—carbon-fiber neck reinforcement, a rigid rim, a wider saddle slot, PLEK setup, and an ultra-thin environmental polyurethane finish. Every guitar is personally voiced by Hozen.
This one is the compact Orchestra Model in 12-fret configuration, with a solid torrefied (“baked”) Sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides. The short-scale 12-fret layout pulls the left arm in, drops string tension, and gives that immediate, woody mahogany voice with a top that already sounds broken-in. It is the combination that sits closest to an old short-scale mahogany OM: punchy fundamentals, sweet trebles, and quick response without a lot of extra mass.

Typical OM body dimensions (Hozen’s published 14-fret OM; 12-fret examples keep the OM waist and lower bout but use the shorter 630 mm scale and 12-fret neck join): overall length about 1020 mm, body length about 486–490 mm, lower bout 394 mm, waist about 243–250 mm, depth about 102 mm.
Tone / feel
Mahogany back and sides give dry, woody mids, focused bass, and that familiar old-Martin mahogany punch. The baked Sitka top adds immediate openness, tighter grain, and a broken-in sparkle so the guitar does not need years to wake up. The 12-fret short scale makes it easier under the left hand and slightly warmer without giving up projection. It is a singer-songwriter / fingerstyle / light-to-medium flatpick guitar first: clear fundamentals, quick decay into bloom, and enough headroom for a room without fighting the player.
