Marklund 000-28 Brazilian Rosewood and Moon Spruce
On consignment, we have a rare treat, which comes from one of the foremost Acoustic small-shop luthiers operating today. Per Marklund is no stranger to me, as I have had the pleasure of demoing several of his instruments, and even owning one. Like its brethren, this is an example of dynamite in a small package, and sure not to disappoint. Regardless of if you’re a finger or flat picker, this guitar just pushes the sound out there, and does all the heavy lifting for you. In addition to the vast volume, the tone is simply unbelievable, with the trait of a strong and sweet mid-range; we all know this is not the most common characteristic in rosewood. Furthermore, this instrument maintains an extraordinary balance from string to string, and is right at home in front of a microphone, or plugged in with the on board K&K pickup. This is serial number 38, and was completed in 2020; it is an excellent plus condition.
This 000-28 12 fret is modeled after the coveted pre-war Martins of the early and mid-30s. It features some of the most sought after and beautiful Brazilian Rosewood for the back & sides (Pre-Ban, Cites paperwork included). The back and sides exhibit rich color and a straighter grain not often found in more recent builds, suggesting that this is undoubtedly an old growth wood set.
Alpine Moon Spruce top
Ebony bridge & fingerboard
Herringbone top purfling
Ivoroid binding
1 3/4" Nut width
25.4" Scale length
2 3/8" String spacing
Superior Hardshell case
Ebony reinforcement rod
Large 30s style neck carve with volute
K&K Pure Mini pickup with volume control
All original CITES paperwork validating the Brazilian rosewood and description from Per Marklund is included
Don’t just take my word on it, have a listen to the video and Judge for yourself. This instrument would easily cost twice as much if it were being built today, and you would have a lengthy waiting period, to endure. If you have been looking for the genuine 30s sound and construction style, without mortgaging your house, this one is for you.
